How to: Add an Internet Information Services Launch Condition

A predefined Internet Information Services launch condition allows you to add both a registry search for Internet Information Services and a launch condition in a single step based on the search. The registry search is used to determine if Internet Information Services is installed; the launch condition is used to roll back installation if the required version of Internet Information Services is not present on the target computer.

Note

The dialog boxes and menu commands you see might differ from those described in Help depending on your active settings or edition. To change your settings, choose Import and Export Settings on the Tools menu. For more information, see Visual Studio Settings.

To add an Internet Information Services launch condition

  1. In the Launch Conditions Editor, select the Requirements on Target Machine node.

  2. On the Action menu, choose Add Internet Information Services Launch Condition.

  3. Select the Condition node. In the Properties window, the default value of the Condition property is REGISTRYVALUEn >= "#4", which specifies that the value contained in the registry key must be greater than or equal to 4 (Internet Information Services 4.0). If you wish to search for a different version of Internet Information Services, replace the 4 with the major version number of the version you wish to find.

  4. Optionally, select the Message property, which contains a property specifying the standard error message that will be displayed.

    Note

The standard error message is represented by the property [VSDIISMSG]; this message is automatically localized when creating a localized installer. You can replace this with your own message; however, the message will not be localized automatically.
