), you can use a Windows 7 client to remotely manage roles and features installed on Windows Server 2008 systems. The tools can be installed on x86- and x64-based clients running Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate and allow you to manage full or server core installations of Windows Server 2008 (as well as Windows Server 2003).
After downloading the Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 7, run the installation. Once installation is complete, the tools will not yet be available.
First, you may want to add the Administrative Tools to the Start menu and All Programs menu on your system—the Administrative Tools are hidden by default. To add these, right-click on the Start button and select Properties. In the Taskbar And Start Menu Properties window, open the Start Menu tab and click the Customize button. In the list of options, scroll down almost to the very bottom and you’ll see System Administrative Tools. Select whether you want the System Administrative tools to appear on just the All Programs menu or on both the Start Menu and the All Programs menu.
Finally, to enable the Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 7 on your system, you need to add these features—simply installing the tools on your system will not add them as active features. To do this, click the Start button and open the Control Panel. Click Programs and then under Programs And Features, select the option to Turn Windows Features On Or Off. Locate Remote Server Administration Tools in the hierarchical tree and select the check box next to any of the tools you want to enable.
