Does System Center Capacity Planner 2007 require a connection to the network?
No, it doesn’t. System Center Capacity Planner 2007 is a client application and you can use it directly on a laptop or workstation. A list of supported operating systems is available on the

Where did the data that the simulation tool uses come from? Is it real data?
The data used to create application models for System Center Capacity Planner were derived from lab benchmarks as well as performance data collected from production deployments.

Is there a scripting interface?
No, there is no scripting interface—it’s purely an interactive tool.

Where is the System Center Capacity Planner 2007 data saved? Is it only exported to files?
Capacity models can be saved to files and restored for future use. Visual representations of capacity model topologies can be exported to Microsoft Visio documents. You can also copy the deployment summary listed on the “Model Summary” page to the clipboard, and paste it into a document editor, spreadsheet, or any other tool of your choosing that supports cut and paste. Additionally, after running a simulation you can export the simulation results to Microsoft Excel files in summary and detail formats.

Will there be predefined support for any other applications besides Exchange Server 2007?
Support for additional Microsoft products, including Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, Office SharePoint Server 2007, and System Center Operations Manager 2007, will be available as out of band releases. The SharePoint application models are available now, and the System Center Operations Manager application models will be available soon.

Can I create my own models to support my in-house applications?
No, with the current release this is not possible.

Is Unified Messaging supported?
No, Unified Messaging is not supported in this version of the Exchange Server 2007 model.

Why can’t I add more than 50,000 users?
The Exchange Server 2007 model limits each capacity model instance to 50,000 users. You can put all of them in one site or distribute across multiple sites. The total numbers should not exceed 50,000. For larger deployments you may still be able to use SCCP to help with capacity planning by modeling subsets of your environment in different capacity models.
