Module 1: Business intelligence in SharePoint Server 2010

Business Intelligence is an increasingly important tool to a wide range of organizations. After completing this module, you will be able to define Business Intelligence, describe how Microsoft products deliver Business Intelligence, explain how SharePoint Server 2010 delivers Business Intelligence, explain how SharePoint Server 2010 supports self-service Business Intelligence, and configure a Chart Web Part to deliver graphical representation of data.

  • Lesson 1: Defining Business Intelligence (video)
    This lesson introduces the key concepts of Business Intelligence (BI) and describes how you can use BI tools to address common business problems with SharePoint Server 2010.

Module 2: Excel Services in SharePoint Server 2010

Excel Services is a SharePoint Server 2010 Enterprise Edition service application that enables the loading, calculation, and browser-based rendering of Excel workbooks. After completing this module, you will be able to create data connections and reports in the Excel client, prepare and publish Excel workbooks to SharePoint, embed Excel Services reports into Web Part pages and application experiences, describe the developer opportunities with Excel Services, secure content within, and access to, Excel workbooks published to SharePoint, and configure and administer Excel Services.

After completing this module, you will be able to describe the capabilities of PerformancePoint Services, create BI solutions by using the key building blocks, and describe developer opportunities for PerformancePoint Services. You will also learn how to configure and administer the PerformancePoint Services service application.

Module 4: Visio Services in SharePoint Server 2010

Visio Services is a SharePoint Server 2010 Enterprise Edition service application that enables users to interact with data-connected Visio diagrams through the browser in a variety of ways. After completing this module, you will be able to describe the capabilities and features of Visio Services, create data-driven diagrams in the Visio client, publish Visio Web Diagrams to SharePoint, embed Visio diagrams into Web Part pages, and describe advanced embedding scenarios using the Visio Web Access Web Part. You will also learn how to configure and administer Visio Services.

Module 5: Reporting Services

SQL Server Reporting Services is a server-based reporting platform that provides a full range of ready-to-use tools and services to help people create, deploy, manage, and disseminate reports quickly and easily. After completing this module, you will be able to describe the capabilities and features of SQL Server Reporting Services. You will be able to configure SharePoint libraries and data sources to support self-service authoring, create reports and datasets using Report Builder 3.0, and embed reports into SharePoint pages and applications. You will also be able to install and configure the Reporting Services SharePoint add-in, configure subscriptions, secure Reporting Services items, and describe how to manage report execution together with why it is important to do so.

Module 6: PowerPivot for SharePoint

PowerPivot for SharePoint extends SharePoint Server 2010 and Excel Services to include server-side processing, collaboration, and document management support for the PowerPivot workbooks that you publish to SharePoint. After completing this module, you will be able to describe the purpose of the PowerPivot add-ins, create a PowerPivot workbook, prepare and save a PowerPivot workbook to SharePoint, and access and manage a PowerPivot workbook in SharePoint. You will also be able to install and configure the PowerPivot add-in for SharePoint and describe how to manage and monitor PowerPivot solutions in SharePoint.
