In this module you will learn how System Center 2012 Service Pack 1 (SP1) has been enhanced to support Windows Server 2012 and SQL Server 2012 through simplified monitoring and operating of the cloud infrastructure components. You will see how System Center 2012 SP1 allows you to be proactive and automatically correct issues in order to provide higher availability and quicker recoverability. You will learn how to monitor OS, compute, storage, and networking components to help ensure infrastructure SLAs are maintained by being able to quickly view infrastructure component health, diagnose alerts, and resolve problems.

Next you will see how extensibility through management packs allows you to easily manage all parts of your heterogeneous infrastructure for cross platform visibility, including applications running in Windows Azure. You will learn about major investments in network monitoring through automatic discovery, consolidated view of network performance, and Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V virtual networks. Additionally you will hear about storage monitoring improvements such as alerts from thin provisioned disks, historical data, VM mapping, and SAS array management.

Finally you will learn about backing up Microsoft workloads both on-premise and to Windows Azure, as well as options for handling service and datacenter failures with a focus on automating recovery.
