Ramon recently worked on a new solution release for the Travelocity site and used Windows Azure to launch it as it provided the significant increase on CPU and storage resources required to support the spike in traffic and ongoing as-needed. The decision to use Windows Azure was a collaborative one made by the developers, systems engineers, architects, etc. all contributing, really showing the importance of everyone working together to ensure success.
|Ramon Resma is a Software Architect in mobile development at travelocity.com .He leads the development of mobile travel applications running on Windows Phone 7, Android, and iOS. He also works on cloud-based technologies to support development of applications for travel planning, travel shopping, and in-trip management. More recently, he worked on Microsoft Axure's cloud-based technology to support certain analytics tracking of Ajax-based functions on travelocity.com. Azure provided the significant increase on CPU and storage resources required to support the spike in traffic required by the application on an as-needed basis. |
He has worked in the past on web development, SOA, search engine, distributed caching, database and data-mning technology. Ramon has over 22 years of experience in the travel industry and has worked on architecture leadership roles for Travelocity and Sabre Airline Solutions.
|Harold Wong has been with Microsoft for almost 12 years. Harold started as a pre-sales Systems Engineer focused on Exchange Server but has been an IT Pro Evangelist since July of 2004. Although Harold is a generalist across most Microsoft Infrastructure Servers, he has been focused on the Unified Communications area (Exchange Server and Office Communications Server / Lync Server) for quite some time. Recently, Harold has also added “Cloud” computing to his repertoire in the hopes of helping IT Pros better understand the role of Cloud Computing. Outside of work, Harold enjoys spending time with his family, finding and eating great sushi and playing Xbox Live (Halo Reach mostly).|
