Consumer support for Windows RT 8.1 will be provided by the manufacturer of the device. For commercial support, organizations may leverage a Professional support contract, Professional pay-per-incident (PPI) support, or a Premier support contract.
To help ensure a safe and secure ecosystem, Windows RT will provide full support for both security updates as well as non-security updates (for example, to ensure performance and reliability). Hotfixes or design change requests will not be available.
Note that Windows RT 8.1 is not classified as a business or developer product as outlined in the definitions described in the
Microsoft Support Lifecycle. As a result, Windows RT 8.1 will not have the same extended lifecycle as these other products. See the
