Create a Health Policy

Applies To: Windows Server 2008

Create a health policy

You can create health policies in Network Policy Server (NPS) by naming the policy, setting the type of client system health validator (SHV) check, and adding one or more SHVs to the new health policy.

Membership in Domain Admins, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure.

To create a health policy

  1. Open the NPS console.

  2. In the console tree, double-click Policies, right-click Health Policies, and then click New. The Create New Health Policy dialog box opens.

  3. In Create New Health Policy, on the Settings tab, in Policy Name, type a name for the health policy.

  4. On the Settings tab, in Client SHV checks, select one of the following.

    • Client passes all SHV checks. If this option is selected, the NAP-capable client computer configuration must match all SHVs that are configured in the policy.

    • Client fails all SHV checks. If this option is selected, NAP-capable client computer configuration must not match any SHVs that are configured in the policy.

    • Client passes one or more SHV checks. If this option is selected, NAP-capable client computer configuration must match at least one SHV configured in the policy.

    • Client fails one or more SHV checks. If this option is selected, NAP-capable client computer configuration must not match at least one SHV configured in the policy.

  5. In SHVs used in this health policy, click the SHVs that you want to include in the health policy. One or more SHVs must be selected.

  6. Click OK.
