Stop a crawl of a particular content source

Use the following procedure to stop a crawl of a particular content source.

Stop a crawl of a particular content source

  1. On the Shared Services Administration page, in the Search section, click Search settings.

  2. On the Configure Search Settings page, in the Crawl Settings section, click Content sources and crawl schedules.

  3. On the Manage Content Sources page, point to the content source you want to crawl, click the arrow that appears, and then click Stop Crawl on the menu that appears.

    Nota

    A message appears warning you that stopping this crawl will result in the next crawl of this content source being a full crawl.

  4. Click OK in the dialog box to close the warning message. The value in the Status column for the content source that you stopped changes to Stopping.

  5. To refresh the Status column, click Refresh. After the crawl is stopped, the value in the Status column for the content source that you stopped changes to Idle.

Use the following procedure to stop crawling all content sources simultaneously.

  1. On the Shared Services Administration page, in the Search section, click Search settings.

  2. On the Configure Search Settings page, in the Crawl Settings section, click Content sources and crawl schedules.

  3. On the Manage Content Sources page, in the Quick Launch, click Stop all crawls. The value in the Status column for the content sources you stopped changes to Stopping.

  4. Note that the value in the Status column on the page does not change when the crawl is completed. To update the Status column, you must refresh the Manage Content Sources page by clicking Refresh. After the crawl is stopped, the value in the Status column for each content source that you stopped changes to Idle.
