IPv6 - DHCPv6 Relay Agent

Applies To: Windows Server 2008

The DHCPv6 Relay Agent component is a Bootstrap Protocol (BOOTP) relay agent that relays Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) messages between DHCPv6 clients and DHCPv6 servers on different IPv6 networks. For each IPv6 network segment that contains DHCPv6 clients, either a DHCPv6 server or a computer acting as a DHCPv6 Relay Agent is required.

Note

You cannot use the DHCPv6 Relay Agent component on a computer running the DHCPv6 service, the network address translation (NAT) routing protocol component with automatic addressing enabled, or Internet Connection Sharing (ICS).
