Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

To change the Message Queuing service account

  1. Open Computer Management.

  2. In the console tree, click Services.

    Where?

    • Computer Management/Services and Applications/Services
  3. In the details pane, double-click Message Queuing.

  4. On the Log On page, click This account, and then click Browse. In Name, type the name of the user account, and then click OK.

  5. In Password, type the account password.

  6. In Confirm Password, type the account password again.

Notes

  • To open Computer Management, right-click My Computer, and then click Manage.

  • This procedure is also applicable to the Message Queuing Triggers service. In this case, in Step 3, double-click Message Queuing Triggers in the details pane.

  • Running the Message Queuing service under user accounts is not supported on domain controllers. Thus, the Message Queuing Downlevel Client Support service, which enables pre-Windows Server 2003 family clients to access objects in Active Directory, must run under the Local System account on domain controllers.

Information about functional differences

  • Your server might function differently based on the version and edition of the operating system that is installed, your account permissions, and your menu settings. For more information, see Viewing Help on the Web.
