Description

Prevents users from creating new tasks in Scheduled Tasks.

A value of 1 removes the Add Scheduled Task item that starts the New Task wizard. Also, the system does not respond when users try to move, paste, or drag programs or documents into the Scheduled Tasks folder.

This entry stores the setting of the Disable New Task Creation Group Policy. Group Policy adds this entry to the registry with a value of 1 when you enable the policy. If you disable the policy or set it to Not configured, Group Policy deletes this entry from the registry, and the system behaves as though the value is 0.

Value

Meaning

0

The policy is disabled or not configured. The user can create new tasks.

1

The policy is enabled. The user cannot create new tasks.

Change method

To change the value of this entry, use Group Policy. This entry corresponds to the Disable New Task Creation Group Policy (User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Task Scheduler).

Note Image Note

This entry does not prevent administrators from using At.exe to create new tasks, and it does not prevent them from submitting tasks from remote computers.

This entry can appear in both the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_CURRENT_USER subtrees. If it appears in both subtrees, the entry in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE takes precedence over the entry in HKEY_CURRENT_USER.
