Compatible IP phones run manufacturer OS and do not require gateways for interoperability. They are fully tested and qualified to provide direct connectivity, core call functionality, presence awareness, and server management and provisioning. Phones under this program are currently being tested for compatibility with Lync Server 2013. Lync Server 2013 is backward compatible with products qualified for Lync Server 2010 and Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2, excluding Lync new features. Firmware may work with other versions, although not explicitly tested. Always check if your Lync version was tested with the interoperable IP phones available. |

USB desk phones and handsets, personal speakerphones, corded and wireless headsets, and HD webcams Optimized for Microsoft Lync are tested to provide the following:
Lync User Experience
- Plug and play: once connected, a device registers on Lync server and is ready to use
- First run experience: Automatic detection of a device with a direct link to user guide and other useful tools and documentation
- Mute/unmute across PC and device
- Audio quality (embedded in the device): no echo or excessive glitches, echo cancellation across devices, wideband / Microsoft media platform with RT audio
- Anti-flicker support for webcams (global powerline frequency) admin experience
Administrator Experience
- TSANet: Device makers and Microsoft participate in common support infrastructure (TSANet) for rapid resolution of support tickets
- Firmware and fixes remote software update and contractual SLA for hardware updates
All Optimized for Microsoft Lync and Optimized for Microsoft Communicator USB peripherals support both Lync Server 2010 and Office Communications Server 2007 R2.

Lync room systems
Lync Room Systems are designed to extend the Lync meeting experience to the conference room. A Lync Room System includes all the required hardware and Lync Room System Edition software. The hardware includes, at a minimum, one or two large touch-enabled displays, high definition video cameras and microphones, and a console in the conference room that enables participation without a laptop or desktop from within the meeting room. These products have been tested and are optimized for Lync.

Video Solutions Qualified for Lync
Microsoft tests and qualifies video teleconference systems (VTCs), multipoint control unit (MCUs) or conferencing bridges, and gateways for interoperability with Lync through our Video Interoperability Program. Our Video Interoperability program tests:
- Video endpoints enable direct registration as an end point on Office Communications Server 2007 R2 and Lync Server.
- Video infrastructure to enable multipoint video conference bridge with Lync users and enable standards based VTCs to connect via a gateway.
