Manage Windows Small Business Server 2008 applications

Updated: March 11, 2009

Applies To: Windows SBS 2008

Problem   The Windows Server administration tools and user interface can be used to manage Windows SBS 2008 applications. However, if you change the settings of applications by using the native server tools, you might not be able to manage the applications by using the Windows SBS Console.

Solution   Open the Windows SBS 2008 Console in Advanced Mode, and then use the Manage Server Applications page to view and manage the applications that are installed on your server that is running Windows SBS 2008.

To open the Windows SBS Console in Advanced Mode and to access the Manage Server Applications page

  1. Click Start, click All Programs, click Windows Small Business Server, and then click Windows SBS Console (Advanced Mode).

  2. On the User Account Control page, click Continue.

  3. Click the Network tab, and then click Computers.

  4. Click the name of the server that is running Windows SBS 2008, and then, in the tasks pane, click Manage Server Applications.

The Manage Server Applications page is displayed.

  5. To view information about an application, click the application, and then, in the tasks pane, click What is this application?
