Create a new location

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 8 Beta

To create a new location

  1. Open Phone and Modem Options in Control Panel.

  2. On the Dialing Rules tab, click New.

  3. On the General tab, in Location name, type the name of the new location.

  4. Specify the characteristics of your telephone line by providing additional information on the General tab, the Area Code Rules tab, and the Calling Card tab.

Notes

  • Performing this task does not require you to have administrative credentials. Therefore, as a security best practice, consider performing this task as a user without administrative credentials.

  • To open a Control Panel item, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click the appropriate icon.
