E-mail Messages in Outlook 2007 Cannot Be Indexed or Searched When Elevated User Rights Are Used

Symptom

When User Account Control is enabled on a computer running Windows Vista or Windows 7 and you run Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 by using elevated user rights, you cannot index or search e-mail messages.

Cause

This problem occurs because the SearchProtocolHost.exe process cannot open the same handle to the personal folders (.pst) file that Outlook 2007 uses. Outlook 2007 uses this handle when you run Outlook 2007 by using elevated user rights.
