Applies To: System Center 2012 Configuration Manager, System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager, System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection SP1, System Center 2012 Configuration Manager SP1, System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection, Windows Intune, Forefront Endpoint Protection, System Center 2012 R2 Endpoint Protection

Alert levels (sometimes called "severity levels") help you choose how to respond to viruses, spyware, and other potentially unwanted software. While Endpoint Protection recommends that you remove all viruses and spyware, not all software that is flagged is malicious or unwanted. Whenever it detects a potential threat, Forefront Endpoint Protection assigns that item one of the following alerts levels: Severe, high, medium, or low (for more information, see Understanding alert levels).
