Event Details

Product: Windows Operating System
ID: 16330

Version: 6.0
Symbolic Name: MSVM_VMMS_SNAPSHOT_CONFIGURATION_CORRUPT_ERROR
Message: Cannot load a snapshot configuration because it is corrupt. (Snapshot ID %2)

Resolve

Delete corrupt snapshot

A snapshot in Hyper-V is a point-in-time image of a virtual machine that you can return to at any stage by using the Revert action. The Revert action takes a virtual machine back to the last snapshot that was taken or applied (indicated in the Snapshots pane by the green arrow head) and deletes any changes that have been made since that snapshot. Note that the changes deleted can include domain membership and password changes mandated by policy.

By default snapshots are stored at %systemdrive%\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Hyper-V\Snapshots. For more information about snapshots, see https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=147648.

By default, Hyper-V names the snapshot with the name of the virtual machine followed by the date and time when the snapshot was taken.

Delete the corrupt snapshot and create a new one.

To delete a snapshot:

1. In Hyper-V Manager, click the server that contains the virtual machine with the snapshot you wish to delete.

2. In the snapshots pane, click the corrupt snapshot.

3. In the actions pane click Delete Shapshot..., and then click Delete.

Verify

Check that the VMMS service is in the running state in the Service Control Manager and that the failed operation now succeeds.
