Remote Installation Services Concepts

Ensure that both your server and client hardware meet the Remote Installation Services (RIS) hardware requirements.

Remote Installation Services system requirements

Ensure that your network is based on TCP/IP, and that a Domain Name System (DNS) server exists on the network. You do not need to use the Microsoft version of DNS.

Install a DNS server; Configure a new DNS server

Ensure that an authorized Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server exists on the network. You do not need to use the Microsoft version of DHCP. A non-Microsoft DHCP server does not need to be authorized.

Ensure that Active Directory exists on the network.

Run the Remote Installation Services Setup Wizard.
