The Microsoft Forefront for SharePoint (Forefront SharePoint) Management Pack monitors the health of Forefront SharePoint on computers that are running Forefront for SharePoint 10.1 (with Service Pack 1) to improve the availability, performance, and security of your Forefront deployment.
This readme describes how to install the Forefront SharePoint Management Pack in Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007. Before You Import the Management Pack
Before you import the Forefront SharePoint Management Pack, you must install the updated Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 Backward Compatibility Management Pack, 6.0.5000.12. You can download the Backward Compatibility Management Pack at https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=89473.
Nota
If you do not install the updated Microsoft Operations Manager 2005 Backward Compatibility Management Pack before you install the Forefront SharePoint Management Pack, the installation will fail.
Supported Applications
The Forefront SharePoint Management Pack monitors computers that are running Microsoft Forefront Server Security for SharePoint 10.0. To function optimally, each Forefront SharePoint server must be managed by System Center Operations Manager 2007.
Nota
You can run only one localized version of a converted Management Pack at a time. To use a version of the Management Pack for a different language, uninstall the Management Pack, and then install the version of the Management Pack for the language that you want.
How to Import the Forefront SharePoint Management Pack
Download the latest Forefront SharePoint Management Pack files from https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=82105. By default, the installer places the Forefront SharePoint Management Pack in its own folder in the following directory: C:\Program Files\System Center Management Packs.
The contents of the Forefront SharePoint Management Pack are described in the following table.

After you download the Forefront Exchange Management Pack, import it into System Center Operations Manager 2007.
To import the Forefront Sharepoint Management Pack
In the Operations Console, on the Go menu, click Administration.
In the navigation pane, expand Administration.
Right-click Management Packs, click Import Management Packs, select Microsoft.ForeFront.SharePoint (Converted), and then click Open.
Follow the instructions in the wizard.

Optional Configuration
After you import the Forefront SharePoint Management Pack, it begins to discover and monitor computers without additional configuration. However, you can configure the Forefront SharePoint Management Pack for your environment and your preferences. For example, some of the monitors or rules are disabled by default, and you can turn them on if you want to. Or, if the performance-measuring rules that are enabled degrade server performance, they can be disabled.
To enable a monitor
In the Operations Console, on the Go menu, click Authoring.
In the navigation pane, expand Management Pack Objects, and then click Monitors.
In the Monitors list, expand the target that you want until the monitor appears.
Right-click the monitor that you want, point to Overrides, point to Override the Monitor, and then click For all objects of type: <type of object>.
Under Override-controlled parameters, in the Override column, select the Enabled check box.
In the Override Setting column, in the drop-down menu, click True, and then click OK.
To enable a rule
In the Operations Console, on the Go menu, click Authoring.
In the navigation pane, expand Management Pack Objects, and then click Rules.
Nota
To show rules for the Forefront SharePoint Management Pack only, on the toolbar, click Scope, and then under Target, select the check boxes for the Forefront SharePoint components.
Under Rules, right-click the rule that you want to turn off, point to Overrides, point to Disable the Rule, and then click For all objects of type: <type of object>.
