Troubleshooting NFS Account Mapping

You can troubleshoot NFS account mapping by performing the tasks listed under each troubleshooting category below.

View all user objects that have duplicate uidNumber attribute values by running the Windows PowerShell script described in the "How to Find User Objects with Duplicate uidNumber Attribute Values Using the Get-ADUser Cmdlet" section in NFS Account Mapping Task Reference.

Duplicate gidNumber attribute values in AD DS or AD LDS

View all group objects that have duplicate gidNumber attribute values by running the Windows PowerShell script described in the "How to Find Group Objects with Duplicate gidNumber Attribute Values Using the Get-ADGroup Cmdlet" section in NFS Account Mapping Task Reference.

File and folder access

View the NFS share configuration as described in the "Server for NFS Resource Management Tasks" section in NFS Account Mapping Task Reference:

  • Windows Explorer

  • Share and Storage Management console

  • Nfsshare.exe

  • Nfsfile.exe

Services for NFS account mapping configuration

View the NFS account mapping configuration for:

  • All NFS identity mapping sources using Nfsadmin.exe as shown in the following example:

AD LDS verbose logging

Enable logging of account mapping failures to the Windows Event Log by following the procedures in Debug Notes for NFS Account Mapping Problems, and then view mapping failures in the Windows Event Log.
