Deploying File Server Resource Manager

Applies To: Windows Server 2003 R2

After you install Windows Server 2003 R2, use Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel to install the File Server Resource Manager component.

To install File Server Resource Manager, you must be logged on under an account that has administrative rights on the local computer and have the installation CD for Windows Server 2003 R2 at hand.

Important

You may need to reboot your server after the installation of File Server Resource Manager has completed. Please plan accordingly.

To install File Server Resource Manager

  1. In Control Panel, click Add or Remove Programs. Then clickAdd/Remove Windows Components.

  2. From the list of components, in the Windows Components Wizard dialog box, select Management and Monitoring Tools, and click Details.

  3. From the list of subcomponents, select File Server Resource Manager, and then click OK.

  4. Click Next, and after the configuration of the new component has completed, click Finish.

To open the File Server Resource Manager console

The File Server Resource Manager component is administered through a Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in console.

  • On the Start menu, click All Programs, click Administrative Tools, and then click File Server Resource Manager.
