Ensuring Application Health in Worker Process Isolation Mode

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 with SP1

Worker process isolation mode provides several features that can help you identify and correct faulty applications in your application pools before they affect your systems or your users. These features often do the work for you, ensuring that you have robust performance and healthy systems:

  • Application pool health monitoring. Provides the basis for application pool health and health monitoring, including worker process health monitoring and debugging.

  • Recycling worker processes. Periodically restarts worker processes in an application pool.

  • Rapid-fail protection. Protects system resources when a worker process that is serving an application pool fails repeatedly within a short period of time.

IISĀ 5.0 isolation mode does not offer these features.
