This article provides information and procedures about how to start the Groove Relay service, test the installation, and access the Relay administrative Web site.

Before you begin

Before you start this procedure, address the following pre requisites:

The following procedure explains how to start and test the Groove Relay service and access the Relay administrative Web site.

To start and test the Groove Relay service and access administrative Web pages

  1. Address the requirements in Before you begin.

  2. From Groove Server Relay, click Start --> Programs --> Administrative Tools --> Services.

  3. Right-click on the Groove Relay service and select Start.

  4. The service should start in a few seconds.

  5. Configure the Groove Relay service for automatic startup by opening the Administrative Tools control panel item, selecting the Groove Relay service, and selecting Automatic in the Startup type field.

  6. Locate the Groove Relay Control Panel item and verify that you can open it to review Relay configuration settings.

    Important

    If User Access Control (UAC) is enabled, right-click the Groove Relay Control Panel item and select Run as administrator.

  7. Ensure access to the Groove Server Relay administrative Web site by opening a browser on the newly installed Relay server and enter the following URL:

    https://localhost:8010/

    The SSL certificate generated for the administrative Web pages is self-signed. Therefore, you may see a certificate error message from your browser asking for your permission to continue. Click the option, Continue to this Website.

    The Groove Server Relay administrative Web site opens, where you can view Relay operation events and statistics, and configure internal Relay server settings. You can get online Help with Groove Server Relay configuration and maintenance from the Groove Relay Configuration control panel item, as described in Get assistance for Groove Server Relay.

When you have successfully installed Groove Server Relay, you can use Groove Server Manager to provision Microsoft SharePoint Workspace users to it. You will also need to register each Relay installation with Groove Server Manager, as described in Registering Relay servers with Groove Server Manager.
