Disabling Microsoft Federation Gateway Support

Applies To: Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2008 R2 with SP1

You can disable the Microsoft Federation Gateway Support service on a server, for example if you are preparing to remove Active Directory Rights Management Services (AD RMS) from the server.

Membership in the AD RMS Enterprise Administrators and the local Administrators group, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure.

To disable Microsoft Federation Gateway Support

  1. Log on to a server in the AD RMS cluster.

  2. Open the Active Directory Rights Management Services snap-in console and expand the AD RMS cluster.

  3. In the Actions pane, click Disable Microsoft Federation Gateway Support.
