Convert to products not stocked (form)

Applies To: Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Feature Pack, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012

Click Product information management > Setup > Conversions > Convert to products not stocked.

Use this form to convert stocked service products to products that are not stocked. Products that are not stocked are products that have a product type of Item or Service. These products cannot be handled in inventory, cannot be stocked, and cannot be accounted for as current assets in the general ledger.

Only products that have a product type of Service can be converted to not stocked products.

When you create a record in this form, the Select service product and companies for conversion wizard opens. This wizard guides you through the setup of the new stocked products. The result of the conversion is that the existing item model group for the product is replaced by an item model group that is set up to be not stocked. After the conversion, a product that has a product type of Service cannot be converted again.

Important

The wizard converts products that have a product type of Service so that they are no longer tracked in inventory. Converted products will always be expensed, and cannot contribute to the value or cost of other products. If any product that has a product type of Service requires tracking in the inventory system for costing or master planning, you should not convert these products. An example would be a service that is added to a product during production. The service is part of the product and it represents a value that must be tracked separately as an inventory transaction.
