You can import and export a product configuration model as an XML file. This is useful, for example, when you want to share a product configuration model or save a backup. You can import a product configuration model only to the same version of Microsoft Dynamics AX that it was exported from.

  1. Click Product information management > Common > Product configuration models.

  2. Select the product configuration model to export.

  3. On the Action Pane, in the Exchange group, click Export product model.

  4. Click the folder icon next to the File name field.

  5. In the File name field, enter or select the location where you want to save the XML file, and then click OK.

  1. Click Product information management > Common > Product configuration models.

  2. On the Action Pane, in the Exchange group, click Import product model.

  3. In the table, select the check box for each legal entity that you want to be able to use the product configuration model.

    TipTip

You can select all legal entities at the same time by selecting the check box in the upper-left corner of the table.

  4. In the File name field, enter or select the location of the XML file that you are importing, and then click OK.
