Mobile Information 2001 Server

To use Mobile Information 2001 Server, you need:

Processor

Server computer with 200-megahertz (MHz) or higher Pentium II–compatible processor

Operating System

Microsoft Windows® 2000 Server with Service Pack 1 (SP1) or later, or Windows 2000 Advanced Server

Memory

128 megabytes (MB) of RAM(1)

Hard disk

50 MB of available hard disk space(2)

Drive

CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive

Display

VGA or higher-resolution monitor

Mouse

Microsoft Mouse, Microsoft IntelliMouse®, or compatible pointing device

Other Software

Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 (SP4) or Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server (SP1) installed on a separate server, for use with Microsoft Outlook® Mobile Access and notifications

Internet Access

High-speed connection to the wireless network (private digital leased line or existing Internet connection)(3)

Additional items or services required to use certain features:

  • Windows 2000 Professional SP1 or later with Admin Pack required to run Mobile Information 2001 Server administration utilities

  • Microsoft Outlook 97 or later required to set individual notification filters

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or later (version 5.5 recommended), or Netscape Navigator 4.71 or later required to set individual notification preferences

    At least one of the following is required to use a mobile device with Mobile Information 2001 Server:

    • Wireless browser: Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) 1.1 compatible browser, such as Microsoft Mobile Explorer™ version 2.0, Phone.com UP.Browser, or Nokia WAP Browser, required to access Mobile Information Server

    • Wireless messaging device: Any device supporting Short Message Service (SMS) or text messages via an SMTP address required to receive notifications from Mobile Information Server
