How to Modify the Properties of a Library Server

By modifying the properties of a library server, you can create library groups to organize your library servers in whatever way works best. The library group is a property of the library server, which is available only after the library server is added. You can also add a description to the library server.

You can use the following procedures to modify the properties of a library server and to use library groups to sort and group library servers in Library view.

To modify the properties of a library server

  1. In Library view, expand Library Server, and navigate to the library server that you want to modify.

  2. In the Actions pane, under Library Server, click Properties.

  3. Optionally enter a description of the library server.

  4. To group the library server with other library servers for management purposes, in the Library group field, enter library group name.

To align your library servers with the host groups that use their resources, you can click the button at the end of the box and navigate to a host group. This does not add the library server to the host group; it simply assigns the same name to a library group.

To add library groups to your library servers display

  1. In Library view, click Select Columns in the VMM taskbar.

  2. In the Select Columns dialog box, scroll to the Library Group check box and select the check box.

  3. With Library Server still selected, use the Move Up and Move Down buttons to move the column to the position where you want it in the results list. Then click OK. This adds a Library Group column to the results list and adds Library Group to the Group by list.

  4. To sort your library servers by library group, click the Library Group column header.

  5. To group your library servers by library group, in the Group by box, click Library Group.
