Competitors (form)

Click Sales and marketing > Common > Opportunities > Competitors. On the Competitors list page, on the Action Pane, in the New group, click Competitor to set up a new competitor or, in the Maintain group, click Edit to maintain an existing competitor.

Use this form to set up retail competitors. You can record a competitor's retail products in this form, and then, using the Competitor prices form, track the competitor's price for each product over time.

Click to view the address in an online map, which opens in a separate window.

Open a menu that contains the following items:

  • Remove

  • Delete

  • Advanced, which opens the Manage addresses form.

Fields

Description

Name

Enter or select the name of the competitor.

Search name

Enter a simple name that can help you find the competitor when you search. By default, the search name consists of the first 20 characters of the value in the Name field. However, you can change the default name.

Description

Enter a freeform description of the competitor.

ABC code

Select the user-definable ABC code for the competitor.

Known as

If the competitor does business under a name that differs from the organization’s name, enter the name that the competitor is known by.

Phonetic name

Enter a phonetic spelling of the competitor’s name for use as a pronunciation aid.

Product

Enter the name or description of the competitor’s product.

Type

Select the type of competitive analysis you are creating. Options are:

  • Strength

  • Weakness

  • Opportunity

  • Threat

Note

Enter a freeform note about the SWOT analysis.

Name or description

The name or description for the address or contact.

Contact number/address

The telephone number or address of the contact.

Extension

The telephone extension number for the contact.
