Download Click-to-Run for Office 365 products by using the Office Deployment Tool

Click-to-Run is a Microsoft streaming and virtualization technology that significantly reduces the time that is required to download and use Office products. Office 2013 provides a downloadable Office Deployment Tool for Click-to-Run that allows administrators to download and install Click-to-Run for Office 365 products and languages sources to an on premises location.

You can download the Office Deployment Tool for Click-to-Run for Office 365 from the Microsoft Download Center site. The download includes a sample Configuration.xml configuration file. To customize a Click-to-Run for Office 365 installation, you run the Office Deployment Tool and provide a customized Configuration.xml file.
Download Click-to-Run for Office 365 installation sources
Use the /download command to download Click-to-Run for Office 365 installation sources. It uses the following syntax:
/download <path of Configuration.xml file>
\\server\share\setup.exe /download \\server\share\Myconfigfile.xml
\\server\share is the location of the Office Deployment Tool setup file and the custom Configuration.xml file, Myconfig.xml in this example
setup.exe is the Click-to-Run Office Deployment Tool executable
/download runs the tool in download mode
The following procedure requires a custom Configuration.xml file that must provide the following information:
OfficeClientEdition (attribute of Add element). Specifies the edition of Click-to-Run for Office 2013 product to use: 32- or 64-bit.

The Office Deployment Tool download includes a sample configuration file, Configuration.xml, which you may customize in step 3.
In the following example, a network shared folder is created to store the Click-to-Run for Office 365 sources that you download. For information about shared folders, see the following resources:
To download Click-to-Run for Office 365 sources
Create a network shared folder for the Click-to-Run for Office 365 sources. For example:
Use this shared folder to download the Office Deployment Tool for Click-to-Run and Click-to-Run for Office 365 sources in this example.
Download the Office Deployment Tool from the Microsoft Download site to the \\server\Office15 shared folder.
Customize the sample configuration (configuration.xml) file that is included in the Office Deployment Tool download. To do this, use any text editor, such as Notepad.
Choose Start, and then choose Run. In the Run dialog box, type notepad in the Open text box, and then choose OK.
In Notepad, choose File, choose Open, and navigate to the \\server\Office15 location to which you downloaded the Office Deployment Tool (step 2), and select the sample Configuration.xml configuration file, Configuration.xml.
Edit the sample Configuration.xml file and provide the options to use for the download. You must specify products, languages, and you can also specify the path to which to save the source.
Note that SourcePath (which is optional) indicates the location to save the Click-to-Run source when you run the Office Deployment Tool in download mode. If you do not specify SourcePath, Setup will attempt to create an \Office\Data\... folder structure in the working directory from which you are running setup.exe.
In the following Configuration.xml configuration file example, \\server\Office15 shared folder is used.

This Configuration.xml configuration file specifies that Office 365 ProPlus 32-bit edition be downloaded in English to the \\server\Office15 shared folder.
Save the Configuration.xml file. For example, save as Customconfigfile.xml.
To download Office 365 ProPlus Click-to-Run sources, use the /download command as in the following example:
\\server\Office15\setup.exe /download \\server\Office15\Customconfigfile.xml
\\server\Office15 in this example is the network share location that contains the Office Deployment Tool and the custom Configuration.xml file, Customconfigfile.xml
setup.exe is the Office Deployment Tool executable
/download downloads the Office 365 ProPlus Click-to-Run source files that you specify in the custom Configuration.xml file
