Reviewing Windows Intune Alerts

Updated: November 1, 2013

Applies To: Windows Intune

On the System Overview and Alerts Overview pages in the Windows Intune administrator console, you can view active alerts. By using this view, you can quickly gain an overall picture of the health of devices across your organization.

  1. Open the Windows Intune administrator console.

  2. In the workspace shortcuts pane, do one of the following:

    • Click the System Overview icon.

The Overview page appears. The Alerts Types area displays:

      • The top three alerts, which can be sorted by date, category, or severity

      • The total number of active alerts

      • Links to the Alerts Overview page

      noteNote
If display threshold of the alert type is set as a value, then all instances of that alert type are aggregated under one record on the System Overview page.

    • Click the Alerts icon, and then click Overview in the navigation pane, if it is not already selected.

The Alerts Overview page appears. The Alerts Type Summary area displays a summary of alerts of different types sorted by date, category, severity or age. Critical alerts are displayed first. Alert types appear as links.

      noteNote
In some cases, an alert type may appear more than one time in the Alerts Type Summary list. For example, the following instances of the Logical Free Disk Space alert type may appear in the list:

      3 Logical Free Disk Space

      2 Logical Free Disk Space

This behavior occurs when the same alert type is generated for devices that are running different operating systems. In the example, the first instance of the Logical Free Disk Space alert type, 3 Logical Free Disk Space, may have been generated by computers that are running Windows® 7. The second instance of the Logical Free Disk Space alert type may have been generated by computers that are running Windows Vista®.

    • Click the Alerts icon, and then click All Alerts in the navigation pane.

The Alerts page displays a list of all active alerts with following columns:

      1. Name – The name of the alert type that generated the alert.

      2. Source – A link to the source of the alert. If the display threshold of the alert type is set to All, then this link will display a single affected device. If the display threshold of the alert type is set to a value, then this link will display a list of all the devices that are affected by this alert.

      3. Last Modified on – This indicates the time when the alert was last modified. If an alert is closed, the time when the alert was closed is displayed.

      4. Severity – This indicates the severity of alert

  3. To view the list of all alerts of a specific type, click the number that appears next to the alert type. This displays a list of applicable alerts. More information about the selected alert appears in the preview pane.
