Manually Deploying the Windows Intune Client Software

Follow these steps to install the Windows Intune client software on individual targeted computers. Repeat this procedure on every computer that you want to manage with the Windows Intune service.

noteNote
After you install the Windows Intune client software, Windows Intune installs additional software on the computer so that Windows Intune can manage the computer. All Windows Intune client software is updated automatically.

To manually install the client software

  1. Download and extract the Windows Intune client software installation files by following the instructions at Downloading the Windows Intune Client Software.

  2. On the targeted computer, browse to the folder where the client software installation files are located, and then double-click Windows_Intune_Setup.exe to install the client software.

    noteNote
    The Windows Intune client software installation may take several hours. However, you can continue to use the computer while the software is installed. The status of the Windows Intune software is displayed when you hover over the icon in the navigation area. If Windows Intune is also performing other actions such as downloading Windows updates concurrently, the status that corresponds to these other actions may be displayed instead.
