Using the NTFS file system
Applies To: Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2
Using the NTFS file system with Windows Media Services increases the security of your Windows Media server and your content for the following reasons:
It is more secure from command-line system attack methods.
You can configure access control lists (ACLs) to grant or deny various forms of access to user and group accounts.
You can use Active Directory to maintain your content and user authentication tables.
Windows Media Services includes the WMS NTFS ACL Authorization plug-in to enforce any ACLs that are already set up for your network resources.
