Disconnect without ending a session

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

To disconnect without ending a session

  1. In the Remote Desktop Connection window, click Start, and then click Shut Down.

    The Shut Down Windows dialog box appears.

  2. Click Disconnect, and then click OK.

Notes

  • To open Remote Desktop Connection, click Start, point to Programs or All Programs, point to Accessories, point to Communications, and then click Remote Desktop Connection.

  • You can also disconnect from a session by closing the Remote Desktop Connection window.

  • Remote Desktop Connection automatically reconnects to this session the next time you connect to this computer (if the remote computer is configured to allow reconnection of disconnected sessions).
