Description

Specifies whether NetBIOS over TCP/IP (NetBT) uses a specific address for all name-related broadcasts. This entry does not exist by default, and you must add it to the registry to change the default broadcast address. Also, this entry sets the broadcast address to which NetBT sends name-related packets for all the subnets to which NetBT is bound.

Activation Method

If this interface is configured by DHCP, then enter the command ipconfig /renew at the command line for a change in parameters to take effect. Otherwise, you must restart the computer for a change to take effect.

Note

  • By default, NetBT uses the ones broadcast address appropriate for each net. For example, for a network of 11.101.0.0 with a subnet mask of 255.255.0.0, the subnet broadcast address is 11.101.255.255. If the network uses the zeroes broadcast address (which is configured by setting UseZeroBroadcast), then create this entry and set it to zero. In this example, the appropriate subnet broadcast address is 11.101.0.0, and the value of this entry is set to 0x0b650000.
