Assigning Data to a Category and Subcategory
Applies To: Windows 7, Windows Vista
You can assign all of your applications, computers, devices, Web sites, and updates to both categories and subcategories, to create a more customized ACT compatibility report and to use for filtering purposes.
Note
For this topic, we are going to use the <Operating_System> - Application Report screen and the <Application_Name> dialog box; however, the process is the same for computers, devices, updates, and Web sites.
Assigning Data to a Category and Subcategory
You can assign data to a category and subcategory from both the report screen and the associated report details dialog box.
To assign a category and subcategory in the <Operating_System> - Application Report screen
On the <Operating_System> - Application Report screen, click the application name for which you want to assign a category and subcategory.
On the Actions menu, click Assign Categories.
The Assign Categories dialog box appears.
Select the check boxes next to the applicable categories and subcategories, and then click OK.
The selected categories and subcategories are assigned to the application. You can now use the Query Builder to filter based on this information.
To assign a category and subcategory in the <Application_Name> dialog box
On the <Operating_System> - Application Report screen, double-click the application name for which you want to assign a category and subcategory.
The <Application_Name> dialog box appears.
On the Actions menu, click Assign Categories.
The Assign Categories dialog box appears.
Click the check boxes next to the applicable categories and subcategories, and then click OK to close the Assign Categories dialog box, and then click Close to close the <Application_Name> dialog box.
The selected categories and subcategories are assigned to the application. You can now use the Query Builder to filter based on this information.
Unassigning Data from a Category and Subcategory
You can unassign your data from a category or a subcategory from both the report screen and the report details dialog box.
To unassign a category and subcategory in the <Operating_System> - Application Report screen
On the <Operating_System> - Application Report screen, click the application name for which you want to unassign a category and subcategory.
On the Actions menu, click Assign Categories.
The Assign Categories dialog box appears.
Clear the check boxes next to the applicable categories and subcategories, and then click OK.
The category or the subcategory is no longer linked to the application and will no longer be available for use by the Query Builder.
To unassign a category and subcategory in the <Application_Name> dialog box
On the <Operating_System> - Application Report screen, double-click the application name for which you want to unassign a category and subcategory.
The <Application_Name> dialog box appears.
On the Actions menu, click Assign Categories.
The Assign Categories dialog box appears.
Clear the check boxes next to the applicable categories and subcategories, and then click OK to close the Assign Categories dialog box, and then click Close to close the <Application_Name> dialog box.
The category or the subcategory is no longer linked to the application and will no longer be available for use by the Query Builder.
