Selecting the terminal definition setting

Terminal definition standards ensure that communications between the remotely administered server and the computer that manages it are standardized. For background information on these standards, see VT-UTF8, VT100+, and VT100 conventions.

Be sure to select a terminal definition setting for your firmware or service processor that is compatible with the Windows ServerĀ 2003 family and client terminal software. The best setting is VT-UTF8. If VT-UTF8 is not available, the next best choices, given in order of preference, are VT100+ and VT100. For a list of required or recommended settings, see "Emergency Management Services" at the Microsoft Windows Resource Kits Web site.
