Preparing to uninstall endpoint components

Updated: February 1, 2011

Applies To: Unified Access Gateway

This topic describes how to uninstall the Forefront Unified Access Gateway (UAG) endpoint components.

Uninstalling the endpoint components restores the Forefront UAG settings on the client endpoint to the default values, as described in Restoring endpoint components default settings.

For Windows 2000 Server, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003 systems, Power User access level is required for the current user.

After Forefront UAG endpoint components are installed on client endpoints, they can be uninstalled in any of the following ways:

  • On the Windows desktop, click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs. Locate the version of the Forefront UAG endpoint components you wish to remove, click Change/Remove, and then follow the instructions to remove the components.

  • Users can view the Forefront UAG Endpoint Component Manager in the Downloaded Program Files folder. From this location, users can uninstall all versions of installed components as one unit.

  • From the portal home page, users can access the System Information window of the portal, from where they can select to uninstall all the components, uninstall the Forefront UAG SSL Application Tunneling component only, or enable and disable the SSL Application Tunneling component.

  • You can enforce the removal of the SSL Application Tunneling client component from all endpoint computers that access the site by opening the Advanced Trunk Configuration dialog box, clicking the Endpoint Security Settings tab, and then selecting the Uninstall socket forwarding component check box.
