They still require installation using Windows Components, but they do not require separate download. There are additional UNIX interoperability features that provide more functionality that can be downloaded separately.

  • Storage Management Features in Windows Server 2003 R2
    This session is a technical discussion about the storage management features in Windows Server 2003 R2. Microsoft is working diligently to simplify storage management, and Windows Server 2003 R2 delivers on that mission. The two key storage features are the Storage Manager for SANs (SMfS) and the File Server Resource Manager (FSRM). To use SMfS you must have a storage device. To demonstrate this functionality with a virtual computer, a virtual SCSI hard disk is used with some custom scripting. Demonstration from a physical system will require a real SAN storage device.
