Change the owner of a directory

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

To change the owner of a directory

  1. Open Windows Explorer.

  2. Browse to, and then right-click, the folder you want to edit.

  3. Click Properties, and then, on the Security tab, click Advanced.

  4. On the Owner tab, in Change owner to, click the new owner.

  5. Optionally, select the check box Replace owner on subcontainers and objects to assign this ownership to any folders or objects contained in this directory.

  6. Click Apply.

  • To open Windows Explorer, click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Windows Explorer.
