Quickly Loading Data

Loading Data Fast with the Quick Open Feature
Message Analyzer provides some shortcuts that enable you to quickly display historical message data from saved files, for example, by using the Quick Open feature, which is an item in the Message Analyzer File menu. You can use this feature to find, load, and immediately display the contents of traces, logs, and other data file types that are described in Locating Supported Input Data File Types. Also, when you use the Quick Open feature, a new Data Retrieval Session is implicitly created and named. After Message Analyzer automatically creates the implicit Data Retrieval Session, the data loading process is silently invoked in the background and the results quickly begin to display in the default data viewer, for example, the Analysis Grid. Note that you can load data from only one file at a time with the Quick Open feature.

Using Other Features to Quickly Load Data
You can also quickly load and display data from a saved file by clicking the Open Trace File folder icon in the upper left corner of the Message Analyzer UI to display the Open dialog, from where you can navigate to a saved trace file and open it. Alternatively, you can also specify the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+O to display the Open dialog. In addition, when you click the File menu, a Recent Files list is displayed and includes any recent files that you saved. You can quickly open one of the files in the list by clicking it and Message Analyzer will then display its data in the current default viewer.

The remaining topics in this section provide information about how Message Analyzer handles session names when using the Quick Open feature, as well as different Message Analyzer behaviors that can occur when using the Quick Open feature.
