Code 16: Windows cannot identify all the resources this device uses

Device Manager displays the following message in the Device Properties dialog box, on the General tab, in the Device Status text box:

Windows cannot identify all the resources this device uses. (Code 16)

Diagnosis

The device is only partially configured.

Resolution

To specify additional resources for this device, click the Resources tab in the Device Properties dialog box for a specific device in Device Manager. If there is a resource with a question mark next to it in the list of resources assigned to the device, select that resource to assign it to the device. If the resource cannot be changed, click Change Setting. If Change Setting is unavailable, try clearing the Use automatic settings check box to make it available.
