Vol

Displays the disk volume label and serial number, if they exist. A serial number is displayed for a disk formatted with MS-DOS version 4.0 or later.

Syntax

vol [Drive**:**]

Parameters
  • Drive :
    Specifies the drive that contains the disk for which you want to display the volume label and serial number.
  • /?
    Displays help at the command prompt.

Formatting legend

Format Meaning

Italic

Information that the user must supply

Bold

Elements that the user must type exactly as shown

Ellipsis (...)

Parameter that can be repeated several times in a command line

Between brackets ([])

Optional items

Between braces ({}); choices separated by pipe (|). Example: {even|odd}
