To support remote Network Dynamic Data Exchange (NetDDE) configuration using Ddeshare.exe or the NetDDE application programming interfaces (APIs), you must open the ports required for remote procedure call (RPC) communication and name resolution.

Add UDP port 137 and TCP ports 135 and 139 to the Windows Firewall exceptions list.

UDP port 445 and TCP ports 445 and 593 might also be required for NetBIOS or RPC communication. For more information, see "Vulnerability in NetDDE Could Allow Remote Code Execution" at https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=41972.
