Subtree

Subtrees are the root, or primary divisions, of the registry.

The Windows Server 2003 registry is divided into five subtrees. Subtrees do not contain configuration data; they contain the DfOfKey, DfOfSubkey, and DfOfEntry in which the data is stored.
