Navigating the form

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Tabs

Tab	Description
Overview	View the list of productions to be scheduled for operations. If you selected Schedule operations in the Production orders form, the selected production is displayed. You can select another production by clicking Select.
General	Select criteria for running the operations scheduling. This includes the scheduling direction, date, and whether to include references, finite material, and finite capacity.
Cancellation	Select the job types that you do not want to include in the operations scheduling.
Batch	Set up the operation scheduling to run as a batch job.

Buttons

Button	Description
Select	Enter criteria for a query to select the production orders to schedule.
Default values	Open the Set up operations scheduling form, where you can enter default values for the operations scheduling. The default values include the following: The scheduling direction The job types to exclude from the scheduling Whether to schedule and synchronize reference productions Whether to consider capacity and material limitations Whether to keep the production unit and warehouse that are assigned to the resource or resource group For more information, see Set up operations scheduling (form).
Sorting	Select a method for sorting or prioritizing the processing sequence for production orders. You can sort by the ascending or descending item-level delivery date, by the status of the production, based on the scheduled start date, or by the production priority, based on the delivery date.

Default values

Open the Set up operations scheduling form, where you can enter default values for the operations scheduling. The default values include the following:

The scheduling direction
The job types to exclude from the scheduling
Whether to schedule and synchronize reference productions
Whether to consider capacity and material limitations
Whether to keep the production unit and warehouse that are assigned to the resource or resource group

Sorting

Select a method for sorting or prioritizing the processing sequence for production orders. You can sort by the ascending or descending item-level delivery date, by the status of the production, based on the scheduled start date, or by the production priority, based on the delivery date.

Fields

Field	Description
Production	The identifier of the production to be scheduled for operations. If you selected Scheduling in the Production orders form, the fields display the current production. You can also select productions by clicking Select and creating a query.
Scheduling direction	Specify the scheduling direction for the production order. Select one of the following options: Forward from today – Schedule forward from the current system date. You can specify the time when scheduling starts. Forward from planned start – Schedule forward from an earlier starting date. If this is the first scheduling, the scheduling direction is forward from today. Forward from scheduling date – Schedule forward from the scheduling date that is specified in the Scheduling date field. If you have not specified a scheduling date, the scheduling direction is forward from today. Backward from ship date – Schedule backward from the delivery date that is specified for the production order. If you select this scheduling option and no delivery date is specified, the delivery date is set to the current date. Backward from planned end – Schedule backward from a previously calculated end date. If this is the first scheduling, the end date is set to the current date. Backward from scheduling date – Schedule backward from the scheduling date that is specified in the Scheduling date field. If you do not specify a scheduling date, it is set to the current date. Backward from action date – Schedule backward from the action date that was calculated for the production order the last time a requirement was calculated. If an action date is not specified for the production order, it is set to the current date. Backward from futures date – Schedule backward from the futures date that was calculated for the production order the last time that a requirement was calculated. If a futures date is not specified for the production order, it is set to the current date. As last scheduling – Schedule in the same direction as the last time a scheduling was run. If the production order has not been scheduled previously, the direction is backward from the current date. Forward from tomorrow – Schedule forward from the current date plus one day. The current date is the system date. Forward from previous job – This function is relevant only when scheduling jobs. If you select this scheduling direction for operations scheduling, the production order is scheduled forward from the current date. Backward from previous job – This function is relevant only when scheduling jobs. If you select this scheduling direction for operations scheduling, planned orders are scheduled backward from the current date.
Scheduling date	The date that is used when you select Forward from scheduling date or Backward from scheduling date in the Scheduling direction field. Scheduling is planned backward or forward from that date.
Schedule references	Select this check box if you want to schedule reference productions. Reference productions are scheduled according to the main production. In relation to the current production, overlying productions are scheduled forward, and underlying productions are scheduled backward. You can view production order references in the Reference level field in the Production orders form.
Synchronize references	Select this check box if the productions that are related to the production that is specified in the Production field are scheduled based on the start times and end times for production. This check box is available only if the Schedule references check box is selected.
Finite capacity	Select this check box if operations scheduling should follow capacity limitations. Operations are scheduled based on whether the capacity that they require exceeds the resource capacity that is available for the resource. Available time on the resource is defined as the interval during which, according to its calendar, the resource is open and there are no other reservations on its capacity. If you schedule using unlimited capacity, existing capacity reservations are not considered.
Finite material	Select this check box if the scheduling should consider materials as finite. If the materials are finite, the coverage of material for that time is considered. Scheduling considers the futures dates for the items, reserves the raw materials, and explodes the current production. If scheduling occurs more than one time, only the first scheduling explodes the production and makes reservations. If you change the bill of materials or the route for the production, the next scheduling runs an explosion. The explosion is based on the calculated amount of materials that are required on the scheduling date. Because the production is not scheduled at the time of the master schedule explosion, the current date is used as the best estimate of when the items will be available. The explosion checks whether the items are on hand. If the items are not on hand by the current date, a planned order is generated, and an offset selection is made for the planned order. If automatic firming is set up for the planned order, the planned order is firmed automatically for purchase or production. The status for production automatically changes to the status that is specified in the Requested production status field in the Coverage group form. Clear this check box to always consider materials as being on-hand materials.
Cancel queue time	Select this check box if you do not want to schedule queue time.
Cancel setup	Select this check box if you do not want to schedule setup time.
Cancel process	Select this check box if you do not want to schedule run time.
Cancel overlap	Select this check box if you do not want to schedule overlap time.
Cancel transport	Select this check box if you do not want to schedule transit time.
Late selection	If you set up batch processing to recur indefinitely, select this check box to process new production orders. Note This control is available only if Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2 or AX 2012 R3 is installed.
