Period allocation categories (form)

Click General ledger > Setup > Periods > Period allocation categories.

Click Inventory management > Setup > Forecast > Period allocation categories.

Use this form to create period allocation keys for budgeting and for sales orders.

In the Budget register entries form, you can select a period allocation key for each budget account entry and generate the appropriate entries for each period.
In the Budget plan form, you can select a period allocation key for each budget plan line and generate allocations for budget plan scenarios.

This option is available only if Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2 or AX 2012 R3 is installed.
In the Master planning form, you can set up period allocation keys to automatically explode sales orders in a period. For example, a period allocation key can distribute an order of 1,000 units over 30 days with a period percentage of 25 percent per week.

Navigating the form

The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Tab	Description
Graphics	View a graph of the period allocation key. To define the graphical presentation, click Setup.

Button	Description
Lines	Open the Transactions form, where you can define allocation percentages for each period.
Copy	Open the Copy form, where you can copy an existing allocation key to the selected key.
Balances	Open the Calculate distribution basis form, where you can calculate period allocation keys based on realized balances. Note This button is available only if you opened the form from General ledger.
Wizard	Open the Period Allocation Key Wizard, which you can use to create a period allocation key.
Setup	Open the Graphics setup form, where you can use to specify criteria for the graphic.

Field	Description
Period key	Enter or view the period allocation key.
Name	Enter or view the description of the allocation key.
Fixed	Select the check box if the allocation starts from the opening period of the year. Alternatively, the system date is the starting point.
