Remove a record from a hold

Remove a record from a hold when you no longer need to prevent that record from expiring and being deleted. Use this procedure to release a single record from a hold.

Important

Membership in the Owners group, or equivalent, is the minimum required to complete this procedure.

Release a record from a hold

Use this procedure to release a record from a hold.

Release a record from a hold

  1. Open the list or library that contains the record that you want to remove from a hold.

  2. Point to the record that you want, click the arrow that appears, and then click Manage Holds.

  3. On the Item Hold Status page, in the Add or remove from hold section, click Remove from a hold, and then select the hold from which you want to remove the record.

  4. In the Comments box, type comments that describe why you are removing this record from the hold.

    Note

    Office SharePoint Server 2007 records these comments in the audit table.

  5. Click Save.
