Edit scope settings (Office SharePoint Server)

You can edit a scope's settings to configure the title of the scope, the contact for the scope, and the results page that the scope uses. You cannot configure scope rules by editing a scope's settings. For more information about scope rules, see Manage scope rules (Office SharePoint Server).

  1. Open the administration page for the Shared Services Provider (SSP).

    To open the administration page for the SSP, do the following:

    1. On the top navigation bar, click Application Management.

    2. On the Application Management page, in the Office SharePoint Server Shared Services section, click Create or configure this farm’s shared services.

    3. On the Manage this Farm’s Shared Services page, click the SSP for which you want to open the administration page.

  2. On the Shared Services Administration Home page, in the Search section, click Search settings.

  3. On the Configure Search Settings page, in the Scopes section, click View scopes.

  4. On the View Scopes page, point to the scope that you want to edit, click the arrow that appears, and then click Edit Properties and Rules.

  5. On the Scope Properties and Rules page, in the Scope Settings section, click Change scope settings.

  6. You can configure settings on the Edit Scope page. For more information about the available scope settings, see Manage search scopes (Office SharePoint Server).

  7. Click OK.
